The AC 800M controller includes a selection of I/O modules that makes it possible to access a wide range of field devices and third-party systems using different interfaces and protocols.
S800 I/O, Select I/O, and S900 I/O
The following I/O types are available:
- S800 I/O
- Select I/O
- S900 I/O
The S800 I/O provides easy installation of the I/O modules and process cabling. It is highly modular and flexible so that the I/O modules can be combined to suit many applications and most types of signals. The S800 I/O can be mounted in many configurations to fit most requirements both in single and fully redundant applications. S800 is available with intrinsic safety interfaces and for SIL3.
The S800 I/O can be used to connect local I/O to the Processor Unit via Modulebus interface or remote I/O via the CI854 PROFIBUS DP-V1 communication interface. The S800 I/O connects to PROFIBUS DP-V1 via CI820.
CI854 PROFIBUS DP-V1 communication interface is also used to connect to actual PROFIBUS devices.
PROFINET devices in time critical applications use Ethernet communication and are connected to the controller via CI871 communication interface.
The Select I/O is a multipurpose I/O system for local and remote installation. Select I/O is distributed as modular I/O and can communicate with one or several controllers. The Select I/O provides easy installation of the I/O modules and process cables.
Select I/O communicates via Modulebus with the Fieldbus Communication Interface (FCI) module CI845 and the FCI module communicates with the controller over industrial Ethernet via CI871 communication interface.
- The Select I/O has been designed for functional safety up to SIL-3.
- Each signal coming from the field is conditioned individually with a Signal Conditioning Module (SCM) for both process and safety applications. Modules can be hot swapped.
- It can combine Analog Input, Analog Output, Digital Input, and Digital Output in the same I/O unit.
S800 I/O and Select I/O can be combined in the same system. The FCI module allows the connection of both Select I/O modules and S800 I/O modules to the communication interface module CI871.
The S900 I/O are built into backplanes. The S900 I/O is a remote I/O system for hazardous areas. S900 provides all input and output modules needed for intrinsically safe field signal connections. The communication interface CI920 connects to the I/O via PROFIBUS DP-V1 fieldbus protocol.
